Yerba Mate ExtractThe herb is used in South America for making a very popular tea-like beverage, where it is associated with rejuvenating, nutritional, and energizing effects, particularly recommended for mental and physical fatigue. In studies, much of the extract's positive aspects have been associated with the occurrance of polyphenols (such as flavonoids quercetin, rutin and kaempferol), methylxanthines, and chlorogenic acid in it. These health positive effects include cancer-fighting activity, as researchers at the University of Illinois found it to "inhibit oral cancer cell proliferation".
