Weight Watchers Meetings

There are over 20,000 regular Weight Watchers meetings organized all-over the U.S., so there's bound to be one near you as well.

The Weight Watchers program relies very much on group support and allows a very broad range of foods to the diet.

On the Weight Watchers flexible Points Plan, each food has a point value, and you will find from the program just how many points you can use each day.

The point allotment is given on the company's first meeting, and from then on you will record your daily use of the points on a food diary, which will aid you in tracking your daily progress and helps plan your food consumption.

There is also a No Counting Plan, with no points counting.

The No Counting Plan has been provided by Weight Watchers as a response to the popular low-carb diets, and makes it easy to switch from such a low-carb diet to the Weight Watchers' program.

How Weight Watchers Meetings Work?

Most of the meetings are organized once a week and generally last for less than an hour.

There are some general restrictions applied to participating in the meetings.

For one, children between the ages of 10-17 need a doctor's note with a goal weight to participate. Moreover, children under the age of 10 are unable to join the program.

If you meet the requirements, and attend a meeting, it's advised that you should arrive 1/2 hour early for the meetings registration and a weigh-in.

The weigh-in is confidential and helps you to track your progress.

The meetings are all about group support. This way, you'll learn quickly, in a positive atmosphere, how to make wise choices, eat healthy foods, as well as enjoy food and exercise.

You get initial material and instruction on the first meeting. From then on, every week you'll get new tips and program materials to help you follow the Weight Watchers weight loss program.

Weight Watchers Meetings Support

Although you probably get a lot of motivation, encouragement, recipes, and helpful tips from other participants in the Weight Watchers meetings, you'll also get support from your Meeting Leader.

The Meeting Leader is a person who has lost weight succesfully with the Weight Watchers program, and is a trained expert in the program.

Finally, as a Meeting Member, you can sign up for the Weight Watchers Internet weight-loss companion for meetings, called Weight Watchers eTools.

How to Find Weight Watchers Meetings

The first step towards losing weight with the Weight Watchers program is to attend a meeting near you.

To locate a meeting you can use the Weight Watchers meeting locator tool. To find meeting locations for Weight Watchers, see here.

Normally, if you can't attend a meeting in your home country, you should be able to attend a meeting in another country (some fees and restrictions apply). Read more about how to find Weight Watchers locations and meetings anywhere in the world (WW operates in 30 countries).
