Weight Watchers Flex Points
In the Weight Watchers Flex points plan, each food has points value based on a specific Weight Watchers formula.
You can eat any food as long as you stay within your Points budget. Since nutritious foods have usually low Points values, the program also tries to guide you towards healthier eating habits. How to Calculate WW Flex PointsThe formula by which Weight Watchers calculates the Flex points is patented. The formula is available for public viewing at the US Patent office web site (link opens up a new window). The formula is for Patent number 6,040,531. You can then plug the formula into MS Excel for an instant points calculator. However, many use the eTools available at weightwatchers.com for that purpose. Weight Watchers Flex Points as Part of Weight Watchers TurnAroundThe Flex points are part of the complete Weight Watchers program, dubbed "TurnAround". Your daily allocation of points is dependent on Target points, which are calculated based on your current weight. Then, to add to those points, there are additional Flex points that offer flexibility to to how you can eat throughout the week (thus the name "Flex points"). The TurnAround system also has Activity Points component, which allows you to eat more points as a reward for exercising.
