Telomolecular Corporation

Telomolecular is one of the most exciting up and coming companies that develop nanotechnologies that aim to treat problems related to human aging.

The company's primary focus is on the exciting novel field of transport of therapeutic agents that lengthen and repair chromosomal telomeres in living animals.

Potentially, successful therapies on this regard may offset and potentially even reverse, many age-related diseases symptoms and signs associated with human aging.

The company is headquartered in Rancho Cordova, California.

In May 2007, the company acquired nanotechnology (called Mitofusin 1) developed at the Stanford Leland Jr. University that allows for the repair of damaged mitochondrial DNA.

In fact, according to the company's CEO, Matthew A. Sarad, the technology is the first practical tool that can be used to repair damage to mitochondrial DNA.

Damage to mitochondrial DNA leads to forms of aging and a variety of diseases.

According to research done by Larsson et al. (2004), the intentional mutation of mitochondrial DNA in lab animals causes premature aging.

In subsequent research, scientists have found that mitochondrial DNA mutations accumulate with age in humans.
