This age related change in teeth color has been contributed to several factors. These factors include habits and practices, diet, trauma, medications and tooth orientation can all contribute to the color of teeth. The methods in which teeth whitening fall under cosmetic dentistry. Dentists describe the tooth whitening process to eliminate discoloration and stains on the teeth, and it can also brighten the natural pigmentation of the teeth.
