Saw Palmetto

Saw Palmetto is usually marketed to the general public mainly as a treatment for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or BPH.

The beneficial effect of the herb extract on BPH seems to have been proven to some extend in recent clinical research.

The mechanism behind this effect is reported to be that Saw Palmetto inhibits the conversion of testosterone to DHT, the compound thought to be responsible for the enlargement of the prostrate.

However, in terms of anti aging remedies, the uses of the herb extract go beyond BPH.

The mechanism of the herb extract of slowing down the breakdown of testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone is thought to be useful in prevention of premature male pattern baldness.
