Rose Root

Rose Root or Golden Root (Rhodiola rosea), grows in the Polar Arctic and Alpine regions, and has been used as a stress reliever that regulates the body's hormonal response to stress.

Studies have shown that the compound has an effect on brains serotonin levels. Serotonin is an important brain chemical that affects mood, weight, and sleep patterns.

The modern lifestyle has been blamed for lower serotonin levels in the brain, which has been seen as one of the reasons for increased levels of depression, obesity, and insomnia.

Studies by the supplement manufacturers in this regard have shown that use of this herb can increase brain serotonin by up to 30%.

Its use has also been shown to have a protective effect upon the neurotransmitters dopamine in the brain.

It has been suggested that the herb improves neurotransmitter activity by inhibiting their enzymatic destruction and preventing their decline caused by excessive stress hormone release.

Rose root also enhances the transport of serotonin's precursors into the brain.
