Retin A

Retin A (tretinoin) is a derivative of vitamin A, a topical medication that has been proven to decrease wrinkles.

In fact, topical tretinoin is one of very few substances whose anti aging effects on the skin have been documented in many well-designed studies of various duration.

In studies, the compound has been found to reduce fine wrinkles and skin roughness, increase epidermal thickness, stimulate deposition of collagen, accelerate skin-cell turnover, stimulate blood-vessel growth, and boost production of elastin fibers.

Even though the compounds anti aging effect on the skin can be seen relatively quickly, according to the studies, improvement on tretinoin may continue for up to a year of continued use.

There are many significant side effects to the use of Retin A, including sensitivity to sun, which requires increased levels of very high sun protection with sun screens.

Also, an unusual darkening of the skin or lack of color of the skin may occur temporarily with repeated application as well as burning sensation to the skin, dry skin, itching, peeling, redness, and stinging.
