Proanthocyanidins
Proanthocyanidins are polyphenols that have been reputed with a wider range of antioxidant capabilities than either vitamin C or E.
There is increasing evidence from research that polyphenols, flavanols, and proanthocyanidins offer significant anti aging protection to the cardiovascular system.
Also, the compound has shown promise in the prevention of diseases such as atherosclerosis, gastric ulcer, large bowel cancer, cataracts and diabetes.
One of the best sources for the compound is grape seed extract, which is used as the base for many dietary supplements that provide the compounds.
Grape seed extract has been used in some human trials. In one, it was shown to have preventive effects on the increase in lipid peroxides in human plasma after exercise and on muscle fatigue after training.
