Polysaccharides

Polysaccharides are very long-chain sugar molecules that provide nourishment for macrophages, the large white blood cells central to body's defense system.

There are some of these compounds, many of which have shown promise in anti aging research.

For example, the LBP-3 polysaccharide isolated from the Goji berry has been shown to have anti-cancer effects. In fact, there are four health beneficial polysaccharides discovered in Goji berries that have not been found in any other fruit.

In particular, the LBP polysaccharide complex unique to Goji berries has been found to be a secretagogue - a substance that stimulates the secretion of human growth hormone (HGH) by the pituitary gland, which is why many athletes use the Goji berry extract as a supplement.

The polysaccharide research in terms of antiaging is an expanding one, and many of these compounds have shown promise in this regard, including ones from mushrooms for antitumor activity.
