PABA
PABA (Para-aminobenzoic acid) is a non-protein amino acid that has been marketed as a treatment for greying hair. However, there is no support in current research for this claim.
The compound has been used as a topical sunscreen and also has been evaluated in terms of treatment for Peyronie's disease and scleroderma skin condition.
Much of the reports that PABA can halt hair loss and restore color to graying hair are based on anecdotal reports and no significant research findings can be contributed to this claim.
These anecdotal reports also suggest that people suffering from vitiligo, over-pigmentation of skin, or without pigment in some spots, have reported an improvement of the skin with PABA supplementation.
The supplement should be used under strict supervision of medical professionals.
