MSM
MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) has been linked in studies to a role in maintaining the integrity and elasticity of connective and other tissues.
In this regard, many supplements contain the compound together with Chondroitin and Glucosamine, which have been found in research to have similar and complimentary effects to MSM.
The compound is an important component of proteins found throughout the body, including proteins in hair, nails, skin and tendons.
Studies have shown that in vertebrates, the concentration of MSM decreases with age. This is interesting, as some research suggests that there is a minimum concentration of MSM that must be maintained in the body to preserve normal function and structure.
In terms of anti aging, it is also interesting that in research done at Ohio State University College of Medicine oral MSM showed promise in protection of rats against the onset of breast cancer.
