Mahonia Grape Extract
Mahonia grape extract contains isoquinoline alkaloid constituents including berberine, berbamine and oxyacanthine, which have been associated with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.
Many of the positive effects found in studies for the herb are associated with berberine, which has been found to exhibit anticonvulsant, sedative, hypotensive, antifibrillatory, bile-stimulating and anti-inflammatory effects. In low doses it also is a cardiac and respiratory stimulant.
On their own in researh, berberine extracts have demonstrated significant antimicrobial activity against a variety of organisms including bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoans, helminths, and chlamydia.
The herb and it's active ingredients have been studied and may have a role in prevention or treatment of acne, chronic candidiasis, conjunctivitis/blepharitis, chronic constipation, colds, flu, eczema, gallbladder conditions, protozoal or bacterial Infections, dysentery, malaria, parasites, poor digestion, psoriasis and urinary tract infections.
