Lactobacillus Acidophilus
Lactobacillus Acidophilus is a probiotic, or a "friendly" bacteria used to improve the health of the intestines and make the make the environment hostile for undesired organisms.L. acidophilus also produces lactase, the enzyme that breaks down milk sugar (lactose) into simple sugars. Other probiotics that have been studied for their health effects in terms of intestinal health include caseiGG, rhamnosus, NCFM, DDS-1, and johnsonii strains, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Streptococcus thermophilus, Enterococcus faecium, Saccharaomyces boulardii, Bacillus spp., and Escherichia coli. From anti aging perspective, the potential benefits of using L. Acidophilus include aiding digestion and suppressing disease-causing bacteria, treatment of overgrowth of "bad" organisms in the gastrointestinal tract, and enhancement of the immune response.
