Intestinal Bacteria

Composition of intestinal bacteria is one of the several things that change with aging, alongside with such things as key hormone levels (testosterone, DHEA, Melatonin, and human growth hormone) and nutrient levels (such as CoQ10 levels).

What makes intestinal bacteria composition such an important piece in the anti aging process is that it has been related to such key elements as energy levels, nutrient intake from food, and protection against invading organisms using the intestines.

Much of the age related changes that affect the composition of bacteria in the tract happen in the gastrointestinal tract, and these changes can be hastened with wrong diet habits and overall decline in the immune system.

One of the things that have been found in animal research to affect the composition to the better is calorie restriction, which has been also linked to overall life extension.

Also, researchers have found that, in human studies, obesity predicts a worsened state in the gut microflora.

Some probiotics can also provide changes for the better in the intestinal bacteria.
