Inositol
Inositol is a simple carbohydrate and essential to human health. The compound is utilized by the body for a variety of metabolic processes, it is used by the body to form cell membranes, and it allows for the proper functioning of cells. More specifically, it is involved in phospholipids which function as cellular mediators of signal transduction, metabolic regulation, and growth. It also acts as a lipotropic which converts fats into other useful products From anti aging perspective, research has suggested that the compound assists enzymatic activity, assists in maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, it aids in the control of estrogen levels, normal functioning of brain cells, the eyes and the intestines. Humans can make inositol in the body, but the compound is also available as a dietary supplement.
