Facelift
Facelift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that improves the most visible signs of aging on the face by removing excess fat, tightening underlying muscles, and redraping the skin of your face and neck.
The signs of aging are most visible on the face, with the effects of gravity, exposure to the sun, and the stresses of daily life making their mark over time.
These signs include deep creases between the nose and mouth, slack on the jawline, and folds and fat deposits around the neck.
The overall anti aging effects of the procedure last according to some estimates from five or ten years, sometimes longer.
The procedure can be done alone, or in conjunction with other cosmetic anti aging procedures such as a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping.
As always with major surgeries, this one carries significant risks as well, and these risks should be discussed with your doctor before the procedure.
To find a suitable plastic surgeon who performs this procedure, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has an online referral service at plasticsurgery.org.
