Face Lift

Face lift (rhytidectomy) is a cosmetic surgery procedure where the face is rejuvenated by repositioning either the underlying tissue layer and/or muscles, tissue on the bone, or surface skin tissue.

These three types of facial lifts are called Deep plane lift, Mid facelift, and Thread lift.

Of the three facelift types, the deep plane facelift treats the underlying tissue layer or layers and muscles for dramatic improvement on older patients and provides the longest facial rejuvenation benefit.

Because the deep plane lift puts less tension on the facial skin itself (as the underlying tissue is treated and repositioned), the result should be a very natural-looking face that avoids an overly tightened look sometimes associated with facelifts.

For the mid facelift, the typical idea is to reposition the natural fatty layers over your cheekbones to their original position from the movement caused by aging.

The benefits quoted by plastic surgeons of a mid facelift include the improvement of nose-to-mouth lines and the roundedness over the cheekbones, which should result in a rejuvenated, more youthful appearance.

The least invasive procedure of the three is thread lift or feather lift, which typically aims at treat sagging or laxity in the eye area, forehead, and nasiofold areas of the face.

Possibly done under local anesthesia, thread lift involves repositioning the skin and does not involve the disruption of the underlying muscles or tissue layers.

These procedures carry significant risks, as do most surgery procedures. These risks, which may include adverse anesthesia reaction, infection, or excessive bleeding, should be discussed in detail with your doctor before the procedure.
