Chitosan for Anti Wrinkle
Using chitosan for anti wrinkle effectiveness is based on the anti-inflammatory uses of the oligosaccharides compound.
Commercially, the compound is formed from crab and shrimp shells which are waste products from the fishing industry and have a compound called chitin. When treating chitin with concentrated alkali, usually sodium hydroxide, N-deacetylation takes place, i. e. acetamino groups are converted into amino groups to form chitosan. Chitosan oligosaccharides are used in cosmetic compositions for preparing lotions, gels or creams, for example sunscreens, antiallergic creams, hypoallergenic products, anti-wrinkle creams and anti-redness creams. The anti aging usage is based on chitosan oligosaccharides providing minimization or reduction of inflammations on the skin. There is a whole theory of anti aging that bases it's presumptions of skin aging on inflammatory responses of the skin and underlying skin to daily skin stressing factors. One of the main proponents of this theory is Dr Perricone. To respond to these inflammatory responses that contribute to skin aging, the Chitosan compound, presumably, minimizes these responses.
