Cheek Implants
Cheek implants are a plastic surgery procedure that aims to recontour the facial features. Aging can cause loss of facial fat and result in hollow cheeks and face droopiness that are correctable.
Typically, according to doctors, the implants are placed either on the cheek (malar bone) or just below it (submalar placement) depending on the effect that is required.
The procedure is sometimes done in addition to other plastic surgery operations. For example, in a facelift, a patient may wish to have implants placed over the cheekbones in order to help restore a more youthful appearance.
As is the case with all types of surgery, this one also carries significant risks, including infection and shifting of the implant, which may require a second operation.
