Chasteberry Extract
Chasteberry extract contains several health enhancing compounds, including flavonoids, iridoid glycosides, and terpenoids. In studies, it has been suggested that the extract keeps prolactin secretion in check, which may benefit some women with PMS. It is worth noting that some of the newer research on the extract indicates that certain compounds in the extract may have activity similar to the brain chemical dopamine, which has been offered as the source of the extract's prolactin-suppressive action. Some of the associated alternative medical uses of the extract include a weak form of hormone replacement therapy, but much research should be done in this regard to consider it as an viable modern day alternative.
