Breast Lift
Breast lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure, where the breasts are raised and reshaped by removing excess skin and repositioning remaining tissue and nipples.
Breast lifts are fairly common anti aging cosmetic surgery procedures, as about 93,000 breast lift procedures were performed in 2005, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
The idea of such a surgery is to combat the signs of aging, due to such factors as pregnancy, nursing, and the force of gravity, on breasts.
Many women seek this procedure because pregnancy and nursing have left them with stretched skin plus less volume in their breasts.
However, surgeons recommend that if you're planning to have more children, it may be a good idea to postpone your breast lift.
This is because pregnancy is likely to stretch your breasts again and offset the results of the procedure.
The procedure usually takes one and a half to three and a half hours.
As is the case with all major medical procedures, this one carries major risks as well, which should be talked about with your doctor before the procedure.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has an online plastic surgeon referral service at plasticsurgery.org to find qualified doctors for the surgery.
