Boswellia Serrata
Boswellia Serrata is a yurvedic plant that contains terpenoids called boswellic acids. In research, Boswellic acid and its derivatives have demonstrated anti-carcinogenic, anti-tumor, and blood lipid lowering activities. Research made in India (where the plant grows) has shown in animal studies that boswellic acids work by deterring inflammatory white cells from infiltrating damaged tissue, they improve blood flow to the joints, and they also block chemical reactions that set the stage for inflammation to occur in chronic intestinal disorders. Because of this profile of the plant extract, the main use for boswellia extract in alternative medication is in rheumatic disorders, to improve appetite and general weakness.
