Boron

Boron is an important nutritient that has an effect on metabolic enzymes, metabolism of steroid hormones, and calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D.

In research, the compound has been shown in rats to increase bone strength and studies have suggested it may play a role in improving arthritis, plasma lipid profiles, and brain function.

In studies, low boron levels have been associated with low testosterone levels, and subsequent boron supplementation has led to increased serum levels of testosterone in postmenopausal women.

This finding has led to a surge in boron supplements for athletes and bodybuilders, but specific research on athletes has not yet confirmed this association that boron alone will boost testosterone.
