Artichoke Extract

Artichoke extract is made from Artichoke (Cynara scolymus), and contains flavonoids and caffeolyquinic acids, including chlorogenic acid, luteolin, scolymoside and cynaroside.

Of these chlorogenic acid has recently become known as a powerful antioxidant on research.

In addition to the antioxidant properties, in traditional European medicine, the artichoke leaves were used to stimulate the liver and gall bladder.

By mid-twentieth century, Italian scientists had discoved the substance responsible for this effect from the artichoke leaves to be the compound called cynarin.
