Anti Wrinkle Injections
Anti wrinkle injections aim to reduce wrinkles and give a smoother, youthful complexion. These injectable procedures include Botox and wrinkle fillers.
Much of the causes of facial wrinkles and creases appear as the under-lying collagen and elastin fibers begin to break down and wear out, which results in the appearance of droopy and wrinkled skin.
To counterbalance the loss of skin's own natural fillers, there are several injectable fillers that aim to rejuvenate the skin either permanently or temporarily.
Injectable wrinkle fillers include fat grafts (from your own body), bovine collagen-based fillers such as Zyderm & Zyplast, Artecoll, Fascian, Cymetra, AlloDerm, and human collagen fillers such as CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast.
Hyaluronic acid fillers include Hylaform, Restylane and Perlane. Hydroxylapatite fillers include Radiance. Another one is called Microdroplet Liquid Silicone, used in some practices.
Another injectable anti wrinkle operation is Botox, which is a formulation of botulinum toxin type A, derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
On April 15, 2002, U.S. FDA approved botulinum toxin type A (BOTOX Cosmetic) to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows. In studies, indications have been that Botox reduces the severity of frown lines for up to 120 days.
