Anti Wrinkle Compound
A look into some of the available popular anti wrinkle compound ingredients.
Coenzyme Q10
Coenzyme Q10 is one of the most popular ingredients in anti aging products. One of the brands that has it is, as an example, Nivea Visage Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Cream. The compound is a nutrient which aids in regulating energy production in cells. As for providing anti aging effect, there are studies done with the compound that show a reduction in fine wrinkles around the eyes. Copper peptides
The element of copper is found in every cell of the body. When copper is used in creams for anti aging effectiveness, it is usually combined with peptides to make it usable. In studies, these copper peptides have been found to enhance wound healing and to stimulate the production of collagen. Hydroxy acids
There are several types of hydroxy acids used in anti wrinkle creams, including Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), beta hydroxy acids (BHA), and poly hydroxy acids, which are all synthetic versions of acids from sugar-containing fruits. These compounds act in the skin by exfoliating, or removing the upper layer of the outmost, dead skin, and by stimulating the growth of new, evenly pigmented skin. These hydroxy acids do have side effects, the main of which is that they increase the susceptibility of the skin to sun, which means you should use high SPF sunscreen against sun with these products. Retinol
This is a vitamin A compound and the first antioxidant used in this type of nonprescription wrinkle creams. There is a link between Retinol and a prescription compound for wrinkles called tretinoin. Retinol is less potent than tretinoin, which is also a vitamin A derivative. Tretinoin is a prescription topical treatment approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating wrinkles. Tretinoin makes skin extremely skin sensitive, which means that you should use very high SPF suncreens with it against sun and other means of getting sun protection such as shades. Also, avoid all vitamin A derivatives if you're pregnant or may become pregnant because they increase the risk of birth defects. Tea extracts
Many types of tea extracts are used for anti aging effectiveness. This includes green, black and oolong teas, which contain compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Of these, the green tea extracts are the ones most commonly found in wrinkle creams, and also have been found to probably contain the most anti oxidant potential in terms of drinking tea as well of the tea types.
